Our First Social Care Induction Framework in Torfaen was a great success with some interesting Feedback from the candidates.

Therefore we are running a second course week commencing 15th July again in Torfaen.

Day 1 on Monday 15th July will consist of

"SCIF" induction including Introduction,workbooks,Values,principles of care and safe administration of medication

PM

Dementia and Dignity

Basic Food Safety and Infection Control

Welcome to our latest blog and we are excited to be starting our Social Care Induction Framework in New Inn Torfaen.

Through my experience it has been very difficult to commit large numbers to attend SCIF Training and therefore I have put together a 5 Day Module designed so that you can book individual Modules or have 1 person on the 5 Full days course.

Dementia Awareness Week

This week is Dementia awareness week and here at Gcare we are at Full stretch delivering quality modules to assist and guide carers and the Management team to ensure Person Centred Care putting the person at the heart of care.

A diagnosis of dementia can come as a shock. Even if you have been half expecting it, this will be a worrying and upsetting time. It can also be

hard for those close to you. You will all need a great deal of reassurance and support. However, there is much that you can do in the early stages that can help to make life easier and more enjoyable, both now and in the future.

A fully trained and informed team is essential and here at Gcare our Lead Trainer Gary has vast experience in this area.

We can offer Bespoke courses for you after a short consultation to ascertain your needs either on a 1/2 day or Full day basis.

  • Communicating with a person with Dementia
  • Malignant social psychology (and positive approaches)

Can also cover specifics that derives from the day .

  • Understanding dementia -   this goes over all the different types and causes of dementia gives and insight into the reason behind the way people act the way they do within dementia
  • Communication-   this looks at the looking‘the feeling’ approach to working to dementia and use of NVC , metaphors, validation touch and humour
  • Malignant social psychology -    and the opposite , person centred approaches, this look at the common ways we approach dementia and the negative responses
  • Behaviours that challenge -   learning the common meanings of behaviours and looking forways to approach challenges, also how  recording what you see can help in the future.

We run a variety of training sessions looking at person centered care, mental capacity, safeguarding and Dignity and Values.

It's important that people with dementia are treated with respect and that their dignity is maintained.

It is also important to remember that a person with dementia is still a unique and valuable human being, despite their illness.

What is POVA ?

Course Details: 
The protection, or safeguarding, of vulnerable adults should be at the forefront of any social worker or carers minds. Adult abuse has become all to common in modern society and this course has been designed to make carers aware of the signs of abuse and what they can do to help. there are no prerequisites to enroll on this course.
 
Course Objectives: 

By the end of the training session the students will be equipped with the following:                                                                  logo

- Discuss different types of abuse
- Discuss possible indicators of abuse
- Discuss your responsibilities when dealing with abuse
- Discuss whistle blowing- Discuss how to create a safe environment
